This article outlines how a WSB user can request the secure access to UW-Madison Central Student Database (SIS) managed by DoIT.

UW-Madison Central Student Database (SIS) is managed by UW-Madison's central IT DoIT, please follow the process below to gain access:

Steps to request SIS access:

  1. WSB user to request SIS access via link: https://it.wisc.edu/security-authorizations-requests/
  2. DoIT to respond the user's supervisor with an email, which contains an authorization access form (see example below)
  3. WSB user's supervisors to fill in the form to request the appropriate SIS roles on behalf of the user
  4. WSB user and his/her supervisor to sign the form securely via Document Sign
  5. DoIT to review the form before granting the access to the WSB user
  6. WSB user to communicate with DoIT to verify the SIS access
  7. For certain SIS roles specified in the form, the WSB user may need to complete SIS training before being granted with the access
  8. For certain SIS roles specific in the form, DoIT may take longer time to grant the access to the user, or deny the access after learning the user role for SIS data access
