- A blog must have a clear and distinct purpose.
- A blog must have a clear audience and a clear strategy for making sure the audience engages with the content.
- Strategy could include summarizing/linking to blog posts in email newsletters and sharing blog posts on social media.
- A blog must follow UW-Madison's digital accessibility policy. All blog owners and blog contributors must comply with this policy. If they do not, their access and blog may be removed.

- Before a new blog goes live, the partner must have 3 articles ready to be launched with the blog to avoid users finding an empty blog.
- A blog must have at least 15 posts per year or it will be removed from the WordPress site.
- Blog owners must create a plan for maintaining their content and cleaning up old content.
- Content must be relevant, accurate, unique, up-to-date, and representative of WSB and WSB's brand.
- Blog owners should remove posts older than 5 years.
- The purpose of this standard is to prevent digital hoarding of content and keep the website accurate, relevant, and high performing.
- There are exceptions. If there is value to business.wisc.edu or the School to keep an older content piece, such as it performs well in organic search, then keep it. Blog owners can decide what these exceptions are for their blog.
- WordPress is not a storage service. Copies of all content (text, images, video, etc) should be kept in a campus-approved storage service, such as Google Drive or Box.
